Community and Belonging
Your place at STS begins the moment you reach out to us. Belonging starts with that first conversation, that first visit, that first connection. From Kindergarten through Grade 12, we’re building a community where every student finds their people, discovers their voice, and knows they matter.
Having all ages together on one campus changes everything. Grade 11 students mentor Grade 4s. Middle schoolers look up to Senior School athletes and artists. Our youngest students see what’s possible, and our oldest students remember what it means to be new.
We know that when you share spaces, traditions, and daily moments across thirteen years, you build something deeper than a school. You build a community that looks out for each other. Grade 12s remember being nervous seventh graders. They remember the older students who made them feel welcome, so they pass that forward.
Campus woods become the classroom. Young learners explore nature through hands-on discovery. They build shelters, start fires, read maps, and solve challenges as a team.
Short excursions and overnight camping trips build confidence close to home for bigger adventures to come.
The STS community extends far beyond students and teachers. Our Parents’ Association (POSTS) is deeply involved in school life. They volunteer their time and energy because this community matters to them.
Our alumni come back. They mentor current students and give their time. They hire each other. Once you’re part of this community, you stay connected!
Every student at STS has people in their corner. Our House system connects you with students across all grade levels. Your Advisory group gives you a small community within the larger school and a trusted adult who knows you well. No one gets lost here.
Leadership opportunities grow with you. In elementary, you might help organize a House event. In middle school, you take on more responsibility. By senior school, you’re mentoring younger students and leading initiatives.
FEATURED INITIATIVE
The Uniform Refresh
Our recent uniform refresh shows how we listen and evolve as a community. The focus was about inclusion, choice, and making sure every student feels comfortable and confident in what they wear.
We combined pieces from different age groups and genders into new items that all students can wear. We increased flexibility and choice while staying rooted in tradition.
What We Believe About Community
Kindness is the foundation.
We believe kindness is the wellspring for our shared sense of belonging. Small gestures matter. Looking out for each other matters. This isn't soft skill talk. It's how we function as a community.
Respect connects us.
The uniform, the House system, our daily interactions all come back to respect for self, others, and our school. We hold each other to high standards because we care about this place and the people in it.
Diversity strengthens us.
We're open to different thoughts, different backgrounds, different ways of being. Pluralism isn't a buzzword here. We believe that other people, with their differences, can also be right. That openness makes us better.
Everyone belongs.
From Kindergarten through Grade 12, we work to ensure every student feels seen and valued. Belonging isn't something you earn or achieve. It's your starting point the moment you join this community.

Tradition Meets Comfort and Choice | Unveiling Our New Uniforms
We are excited to announce our new STS uniform collection, which has been carefully designed to balance comfort, tradition, style, functionality, sustainability, choice/flexibility, and practicality. Our partnership with InSchool Wear has allowed us to create a cohesive, forward-thinking collection that embraces our school's rich traditions and history.
Positive Change Through Immense Tragedy
Parents held their children a bit tighter, classmates forged bonds never to be broken, flowers sold out across the city, and there was a far-reaching, palpable, deep sorrow. More than 20 years later, members of our STS community – alumni, current and former employees, classmates, and of course, more than anyone, the families of the children lost – are still profoundly affected by this event.
