Nil Nisi Optimum Notable Alumni Award

The Nil Nisi Optimum Notable Alumni Award recognizes graduates of STS and its founding schools who are living the school’s motto in the fullest sense. It celebrates alumni who have risen to distinction in their profession, contributed meaningfully to their communities, and embodied the values at the heart of an STS education, integrity, kindness, respect, responsibility, and service. This recognition spans generations and fields, honouring those whose achievements and character bring pride to their alma mater.

With 20+ years as an entrepreneur, consultant, and organizational strategist, Jill is a Calgary-based strategic leader and arts advocate known for turning strategy into execution and building systems that support consultants nationwide.

Joe Kendal '08

Orthopedic Oncology Surgeon and Clinical Assistant Professor, UCalgary

A UVic and UCalgary graduate with UCLA fellowships, Dr. Kendal is a surgeon-scientist improving care for sarcoma and metastatic bone disease through advances in therapies, recovery, mobility, and quality of life.

Fareen Zaver '02

Emergency Medicine Physician and Associate Dean of Faculty Development, UCalgary

An emergency physician and Associate Dean at UCalgary’s Cumming School of Medicine, Fareen leads faculty development, mentorship, and leadership initiatives. Practicing at Peter Lougheed Centre, she is a nationally recognized advocate for inclusive academic communities and diverse faculty contributions.
