Global Citizens

Beyond Borders

We prepare students for a changing world by giving them chances to engage with it firsthand. STS students serve locally, travel internationally, and set goals through recognized programs. Each experience builds skills they’ll use wherever they go.

Duke of Edinburgh Award

This internationally recognized award challenges students aged 14-24 to set personal goals across service, physical activity, skill development, and adventure. Some volunteer at shelters while others train for competitions. The awards enhance university applications while building confidence.

Student Service

Students have the opportunity to lead most service initiatives at STS because they know their community best. They spot the needs, plan the response, and make things happen. Whether collecting donations or volunteering time, students discover that showing up for others changes who they become.

Travel

Every trip serves a clear purpose tied to curriculum. Students practice language skills abroad, observe science concepts firsthand, and explore post-secondary options. Our three-year rotation balances local and international experiences that build confidence and cultural competence.

Building Capacity for Impact

Today’s challenges require people who work across differences and tackle big problems. STS develops these capacities through service, cultural immersion, and personal growth programs. These opportunities align with our Flourish 2031 commitment.
