Every Spartan has something to give. At STS we believe generosity is about who you become when you show up for others, not just what you can donate.
Students participate in service initiatives that make a tangible difference in our community. Collecting winter coats for Calgary families, raising funds for local hospitals: Spartans learn that generosity is something you do.
Why Student Service?
Service teaches students to think beyond themselves. They develop empathy by understanding the needs of others. They practice cooperation by working toward shared goals. They discover that their actions, however small, contribute to something larger.
These experiences shape students into compassionate, engaged citizens who know how to lead with kindness and take initiative when they see a need.
STS Cares
Our Giving Framework
STS Cares brings all our community service efforts under one name. Grounded in our Flourish values of kindness, humility, integrity, joy, and creativity, it ensures that giving is accessible to everyone in our community.
You can contribute time, resources, or ideas. There’s a place for you. Our initiatives are designed to be inclusive, allowing families to participate in ways that fit their lives and capacities.
Student-Led Giving
Most service initiatives at STS are student-led. Through student councils, Round Square, and individual projects, students identify causes that matter to them and organize campaigns to address real community needs. We don’t assign service as a requirement. Instead, we provide students with the tools, understanding, and support to turn their desire to give back into meaningful action.
When students see a need, they step up. They plan drives, recruit volunteers, rally their peers, and make things happen. This approach builds leadership skills and shows students they have the power to create change in their community.
What We Do
Throughout the school year our K-12 community engages in service activities:
- Annual drives for local charities and organizations
- Student-led campaigns addressing community priorities
- Fundraisers supporting causes close to home and around the world
- Hands-on volunteer opportunities
